…I looked and my eyes were not blinded. Since then my eyes have opened wider and wider from year to year, beyond sleep, to the rim of pain, beyond eyelids, beyond clouds, beyond years. Death is not sleep but open eyes, the whole body gaping with eyes, pressed in the narrow space of the world.
